Why is the sound coming out of my digital channels low in HDTV?

I just got a HDTV and have no satellite or cable. I'm using an indoor antenna with it power to get more air emissions. I am receiving both analogue and digital but the sound coming out of the digital version of each channel, it seems much lower. I am not an expert and wanted to know what is causing this and how can I increase the audio output of my digital channels. Do I need a special antenna or better? I appreciate any useful suggestion.
